Tulcea is the nearest town to Somova and the embarkation point for boat trips into the heart of the Danube Delta.

Attractions include the Heroes Monument with views over the City, the Archeological Museum and the Danube Delta Museum.

The waterfront promenade is a focal point with a number of bars and restaurants.

The Delta Hotel restaurant overlooks the promenade. The hotel also has a swimming pool and souvenir shop.

Other restaurants in the town include the Select Hotel (next door to the Diana Department Store), Europolis (on the outskirts by Lake Somova (regular boat trips to Saun Monastery leave from here) and Echinoct (located by the towns largest market. It is possible to hire a table tennis table for the evening - two bats and some balls are provided at our house)

There are a variety of shops and markets - Romanian prices are very low by western European standards. There is also a small supermarket on the outskirts which accepts credit cards using the pin number method.
